Military Personnel Services Corporation designed a financial planning program geared to soldiers and their families (Family Readiness Services). The course begins with a comprehensive explanation of common insurance policies presently marketed by major companies and how SGLI supplements other insurance plans. Basic mutual fund investing is covered emphasizing the importance of a regular savings and investment program. Tax advantages of various plans will also be covered. The last segment will cover the need to establish a will and other estate planning devices. The intent is to create a comfortable understanding of how young soldiers can begin to become financially independent using service in the Reserve Components as a basis for their financial plan.

This program could become an integral part of each State's Family Readiness Program.
