Army Reserve Employer Relations Mission Statement
Enhance Army Reserve readiness by building and maintaining enduring
relationships with Employers which promotes a continuum of economic support and
sustains the Soldiers’ Well-Being during periods of mobilization and active
military service.
The Army Reserve and MPSC recognize the importance of partnering with employers
who hire the men and women of the Army Reserve. The current National Defense
Strategy will rely more heavily on the Army Reserve as partners in the fully
integrated Total Force. Our Reserve forces will spend more time away from the
workplace defending the nation, supporting a demanding operations tempo and
training to maintain their mission readiness. In this environment, employer
support is critical to overall mission success.
LTG Jack C. Schultz, the Chief of the Army Reserve and the Commanding General of
the US Army Reserve Command, outlined his Vision, Commander’s Intent, and
Desired Endstate in his Vision memorandum dated 13 Nov 2006. His desired
endstate:
"An Army Reserve with a culture that embraces continuous transformation, is
capable of predictably and perpetually providing relevant operational forces to
Combatant Commanders, and maintain strong mutually supporting Warrior-Citizen
relationships among Soldiers, families, employers, and the Army."
"It is my intent to initiate a comprehensive outreach campaign to ensure
Congress and the services clearly understand that family and employer support
are not just Reserve Component issues…It is also my intent for this campaign to
develop stronger cooperation agreements with employers…."
The Army Reserve understands that the Soldier is the cornerstone to mission
success. In order to maintain an operational force, to assist in generating
forces, and to execute ARFORGEN—the Army Reserve must recruit and retain
Soldiers in the appropriate number and skill set. To ensure this, the Army
Reserve provides services, including employer outreach, in support of the
overall wellbeing of Soldiers and their families. Employer support just doesn’t
happen. It takes continued commitment to ensure Soldiers, families, and
employers are informed and work in partnership to provide jobs for Army Reserve
Soldiers.
The ARER PSMs represent the Army Reserve’s continued commitment to this critical
mission by enhancing support. All support is targeted toward achieving the
overall mission of the Army Reserve.
